Connecting Women

Connecting Women is our programme of activities and events for women who are currently or have been supported by any GWA service.

Our connecting women groups are an opportunity for women to come together within a safe space to share information, hope, joys, fears, successes & hardships to support, heal & grow together. It is based on self-help and mutual support in the belief that healing from domestic abuse is not only possible but probable. We are not there to ‘fix’ each other or give advice but rather to ‘be’ with one another.

The groups are led by our group facilitators Sandra and Julie, activities are decided and led by women who attend this group service. Activities are variable and range from discussions to structured workshops and guest speakers, with a wide range of topics covering women’s issues, looking after ourselves, crafts and are always relaxed and fun!

Women can sign up to join this service at any point during their journey with GWA, and can do this by joining our Connecting Women mailing list to receive our monthly newsletter which gives details of groups and events coming up for the next month or complete the self referral form. Following acceptance to the group, women are then welcome to let us know which groups they would like to attend with no obligation.

Face to face Women’s Group

Meets during the morning every 2nd Thursday of the month.

If you are or have previously been supported by any GWA service and would like to access our Connecting Women programme, please complete our self referral form.

Events & Projects

Connecting Women service is also the best place to be informed for a variety of events and projects offered by GWA throughout the year, such as our popular Lunch & Pamper afternoon to celebrate International Women’s Day.

As some events have limited spaces booking may be required, therefore being ‘connected’ via our mailing list is usually the most effective way of hearing of events and special projects. Previous attendance at group sessions is not necessary, you can join in any event or project that takes your interest.
