Helping Survivors: Wondering if Group Support is Right for You?

We know taking the first step towards joining a group can feel overwhelming. It’s okay to be unsure, nervous, even afraid. You’ve already done something incredibly brave by reading this post. We want you to know that you’re not alone in how you’re feeling and it’s completely natural to have worries.

Many women who have come to join us have felt just like you do right now. They’ve asked themselves, “Will anyone understand me?” “What if I don’t know what to say?” “Will I be judged?” And every time, those same women found not just understanding, but real connection, laughter, and strength in the company of other women who truly get it.

What we offer at GWA is more than just a group, it’s a safe space for healing, for being seen and heard without pressure or shame with others who are on a similar journey to you. It’s a place where you can exhale, cry, laugh and be yourself, knowing that you are safe. Women who attend our group sessions come from different walks of life and we celebrate this, but we all share something powerful: a journey that has brought them through pain and into resilience. Women who understand what it’s like to carry invisible wounds, and they know what it means to rebuild piece by piece.

You don’t have to speak right away. You can come, listen, and take your time. There’s no expectation, no pressure, just a group of women who’ve walked similar paths, sitting together in solidarity. What begins as shared silence often grows into laughter, stories, and moments of recognition that remind you “I’m not alone.”

So much of our healing process is about rediscovering our voice and our worth. Being around other women who are also on that path helps more than words can express. We hope you will see strength reflected in others and one day begin to see it in yourself, too. Sometimes it’s in the quiet nod of someone who just gets it. Other times, it’s in the way someone shares something you’ve been holding inside for so long and you realise that someone understands.

We offer space for connection, for moments of lightness, for cups of tea, for quiet tears and loud laughter. It’s not just about surviving, it’s about reclaiming your life with the support of women who will walk beside you, not in front of or behind.

You are not broken. You are not alone. And you don’t have to do this by yourself. When you’re ready, we’ll be here, not to fix you, because you’re not the one who’s done wrong, we want to walk with you as you find strength, hope, and maybe even joy again.

And who knows? One day, you might be the woman whose voice helps someone else take their first step.

Whenever you’re ready, we’re ready too.
